Redesign coming soon…

I know I haven’t updated this site in AGES. Since September 2008. Wow. Well, it’s a bit of an embarassment to have a stagnant site up, but I haven’t forgotten this site. Got too busy in Fall’09 enjoying Copenhagen and being abroad. In January I started working on a new layout that am absolutely psyched about. However it’s been put on the backburner because once again, I’m trying to enjoy my time in Denmark while I can.  ;-)

Anyway, I will soon resume work on my new layout but I’m not going to rush it. I want to re-write many pages and add many new gems to make this site a lovely experience in learning and exploration.

Until then, check out my Travel Blog, I’m still updating that while I’m abroad! http://michelleabroad.pondersphere.com

State of affairs
My new travel blog!

My new travel blog!

Just a few announcements to make concerning the state of Open-Orbit.com! First, I’m pleased with the new direction I’ve taken with this site. I enjoy writing posts and it’s fun to brainstorm ideas to fill out each category. :-)

Second, I’ve added a new category called “Resources.” It will contain goodies that I offer for download and/or links to helpful sites and services.

Thirdly, I’ve added a new site to the projects section! It’s called “Michelle in Kobenhaven” and it will serve as the primary blog for my upcoming semester abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark! I hope to post in it several times a week, but that’s only an estimate at this point because I have no idea what my schedule will be like until I’m actually there! While I’m in Denmark, I’ll continue to post entries here, at least once a week, but maybe more. Once again, it depends on my schedule.

In the future I will revamp the Projects section and make it a little more colorful. Also, I’m going to start planning out version 14 of this site. It will be major design overhaul to better reflect Open-Orbit.com’s new mission of exploration, learning and discovery. I’m going to spend many months on the new layout however, so it probably won’t be up until sometime next year! :-)

New direction

Well, I’ve finally decided on a direction for this site! I didn’t know what to do with it for the longest time, so it really feels great to have a plan in mind. For the longest time, I wanted to use this site to explore a variety of topics that interest me, and share my findings with the world. In 2004, I was doing that for a time, but fell out of it due to lack of time and interest. I hope the interest and motivation will stick around this time! ;) More specifically, here is what I plan to do with this site from here on:

  • Tell interesting stories.
  • Look at the world through a variety of lens to facilitate understanding of different cultures, ideas and worldviews.
  • Share, teach and discover.
  • A vehicle for creative expression.
  • A means to practice writing.

So there you have it. Each entry will fall under a specific category. These categories were carefully selected and you can find descriptions of each one on the “About” page. I don’t pretend to be an expert in any of the topics I discuss on this site. I’m just trying to explore the vast world of knowledge and make sense of it. I hope you enjoy your stay here!

Note:
all previous blog entries dating from August 2002 through February 2008 have been archived and are accessible through the archives page. For the sake of privacy, I’ve limited access to them. If you have the password, please respect my privacy and don’t give it out. If you don’t have the password, don’t worry, you aren’t missing much. Those entries contain years of my babblings about life. I couldn’t bring myself to delete 5 years of entries.  :)
